Superstitions And Gambling

Do you always wear that black shirt for every interview? Alternatively, are you in the habit of using the same ballpoint pen to write an exam? Do you say the same prayers before you take on something new? Can you say how many people do such things?

From ancient times, people have come to the conclusion that there are some actions, which are blessed and if they repeat them, they will be able to sway the outcome of other things. This is something that you can see in all the countries and continents. It is something that has influenced every culture. The first societies were based on spirituality, witchery, and religious rituals. These were used to achieve the goal. The means were different but the aim was to use the supernatural force to aid in succeeding in various tasks that were needed to be done. Those who did not believe in miracles called it superstition.

Even after all these centuries, men have not quit believing in superstitions. The variants have increased greatly, even though we thought modernism would weaken these infirmities. This is something that was unexpected. Modern day gambling is not exempt from these idiosyncrasies either.

Superstition in gaming has been a common occurence from their very first game played. Winning makes the player look for an external cause that influenced the good luck. Most of gamblers prefer to carry on with the superstitions that originated from their ancestors. This is because they feel that if it could bring fortune to their ancestors, it would make them lucky too. Apart from this, there are some superstitions that are common.

Let’s consider a couple of cases; it is felt that, to enter a casino through the main gate is bad luck. No player will play with his legs crossed, deeming it to be unlucky. They will not count their bankroll; this is also bad luck. Likewise, you will find many superstitions. When a player has not done what he normally does, he is certain that he will lose, and he does fail. Then they become more reinforced in their belief, but seldom realize that they were led to defeat by their subconsciousness.

With superstition on the increase, people are now conducting elaborate rituals that also include prayers. PeopleĀ  now resort to witchcraft to cast spells on their adversaries before the start of the game, to soften them and make wrong moves. This supposedly have worked several times and so, many more players are resorting to it.

Superstition is growing rapidly, that nowadays there exists a bunch of people who are setting up new professions to satisfy this demand. Spiritualists, magicians and more are nowadays taking advantage of this situation and making quite a lot of money out of it. Therefore, most of the profits of the gamblers go to these wizards.

It is alright to think that something in particular can bring you luck, but this concept should not obsess you. If you get fanatical, then you will start to mistrust everybody, and superstition will become a compulsion. When you are playing and lucky charm is not in your pocket, then you will surely fail, and lose a lot of money in the process. Therefore, you must curtail your belief and play a good game depending on your brains and strategies. Moreover, you will be able to succeed in gambling.
